ABOUT US

The Toronto and District Rugby Referees Society

The Toronto and District Rugby Referees Society supplies certified referees to the Ontario and Toronto Rugby Unions to officiate games within their area of responsibility.

In order to achieve this goal within the Greater Toronto Area the TDRRS manages all aspects of officiating including training, registration, quality control and administration of its membership. This is achieved through an operational structure that is headed by a board of directors. The positions include President, Vice-President, Secretary, Development, Appointments, TRU Liaison and Social Directors that manage individual portfolios within the society and work to achieve specified mandates that are decided upon at the beginning of each season.

The Society’s day to day operations involve running referee certification clinics, monthly meetings of both executive and general membership and individual members officiating games that are taking place in the Greater Toronto Area. In the broader scope of the Rugby Community, the TDRRS Reports to the Provincial Society called the ORRS which oversees the three regional Societies within the province of Ontario, and operates under the auspices of Rugby Canada and the International Rugby Board.

The society operates with the same philosophy as an individual rugby club. We offer benefits to our members as well as a supportive environment for continued participation within the game of rugby including:
  • Certification Clinics
  • Appointments to games
  • Re-imbursement+ Mileage
  • Training and Development
  • Equipment
  • Social Activities
